Upadate: After discussion with the Web3 Foundation, we decided to cancel this proposal and close the bounty. All meetups that took place in December will be paid from the remaining funds. We may submit a small new proposal to cover December curator salaries, as the remaining funds are not sufficient for this. Our priority is to fund the remaining meetups.

If someone has more questions, you can always reach out to us. Thanks to all for your previous support!

Greetings, Polkadot community, it has been more than one year since our last top-up request for Meetups Bounty #43. This year was very productive; we learned a lot from meetup submissions, discussions, and community calls. We want to continue growing the Polkadot community with a strong focus on quality and lasting impact.

Meetups are a key part of growing the ecosystem. They help connect people, share knowledge, and build trust at low cost. In this proposal, we share updates about the bounty, new improvements, statistics, plans, and ways we aim to increase the impact and value of each meetup.

Full support from ChileDAO: 7 successful experiences in 2025 thanks to DOT Meetups

Hello everyone! I’m Gonzalo Camps writing on behalf of ChileDAO. We fully support the continuation and evolution of DOT Meetups Bounty.

To validate the importance of this bounty, I want to share our concrete data from 2025. This bounty allowed us to execute a 7-event roadmap that transformed casual interest into technical submissions. We moved beyond simple gatherings to establish academic partnerships and a "Road to Sub0" developer pipeline.

Here is a summary of how we utilized this Bounty in 2025 to activate the Chilean ecosystem:

1. The Strategy: From Park to University to Hackathon

We didn't view these as isolated events, but as a continuous journey for our community.

2. The 2025 Timeline & Impact

Phase 1: Activation & Community Building (May - June)

  • May 29 | Nerdconf Hackathon Prep: We launched with a podcast-style meetup to activate participation for the Nerdconf Hackathon. Result: 20 attendees and immediate engagement with the Latin American hackathon circuit.
  • X Thread *<https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1929544026966896887*>

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 1

  • June 8 | Open Web3 Meetup 001: Held outdoors at Parque Intercomunal. Result: 30 attendees. We validated that combining education with social activities (soccer + BBQ) builds stronger retention.
  • X Thread https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1935051028577108143
    ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 2

Phase 2: Academic Integration (July)

  • July 14-18 | USACH Blockchain Bootcamp (3 Sessions): We partnered with the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) for a 3-day intensive program. X Thread https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1947389859620131028
    • Session 1 & 2: Fundamentals & Ideation.

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 3

  • Session 3: Demo Day & Certification.
  • Result: 25 university students certified with Polkadot POAPs, 5 scholarships awarded for PBA-X, and official faculty involvement.

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 4

Phase 3: Technical Onboarding (August - September)

  • August 10 | Open Web3 Meetup 002: We returned to the park to maintain momentum, focusing on Web3 Gaming and DAO structures.

X Thread https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1955333847345729780

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 5

  • September 23 | Workshop "From 0 to Dev in Web3": Hosted at the Municipal Hub Providencia in partnership with Campus On Chain.X Thread https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1971828142236115038
    • Focus: Deploying Smart Contracts on Moonbeam.
    • Result: 20 attendees. We validated Moonbeam as a low-friction entry point, guiding users with zero experience to deploy their first contract in a single session.

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 6

Phase 4: High-Level Building (November)

  • November 11 | Road to Sub0 Polkadot Builder Party: The culmination of our year. We moved to a specialized Web3 Hub (Klee Market) for a curated, invite-only hackathon session.
  • X Thread https://x.com/ChileDAO_/status/1995503645987930365
    • Metric: 76% of attendees were technical developers.
    • Metric: 4 to 7 concrete project submissions to the Builder Party hackathon.
    • Metric: 14 On-chain MEMOs minted.

ChileDAO DOT Meetup # 7

3. Why this Bounty Matters

Without the agility of the Meetups Bounty, achieving this mix of University Bootcamps, Municipal Partnerships, and High-level Dev Events would have been impossible. We have seen the ROI firsthand. We fully endorse the proposal to top-up the bounty so we can continue professionalizing the ecosystem in 2026.

Allocating curator payouts that are effectively equivalent to the total amount spent on meetups creates a 1:1 ratio between operational activity and administration. Even if the work involved is real, this level of overhead feels excessive
