Hey Polkadot community!
This is our first refill request since our launch last year, and we’re taking this opportunity to begin quarterly planning. We are proposing this structure to help us stay accountable, communicate our direction clearly, and keep the community regularly informed about our priorities, spending, and impact.
Why now?
Q3 felt like the right moment after testing the quarterly rhythm in Q2.
We’re scaling the UX Audits Program following a successful pilot, and launching two new programs (Data Analytics and UX Consultancy) both aimed at leveling up the teams across the ecosystem.
We’re also expanding our DevEx scope to support better tooling, onboarding, and MVP-driven initiatives. Meanwhile, we’re continuing the implementation of key UX initiatives like the Unified Address Format and DOT as Gas Fee Token.
What did we accomplish in Q2?
We completed 5 UX audits, generating over 170 actionable recommendations, with a 95% satisfaction rate. The community also approved the DevEx expansion, with 87.5% voting yes.
We made significant progress on UXB-1, with 5 rollups already upgraded. Beyond that, we improved coordination with Parity, W3F, Open Source Grants, and more. We also launched our new website, our X account, and continued our monthly calls and UX Guild efforts.
Looking ahead to Q3
Our focus is on scaling UX audits to reach 8 teams, launching the Data and Consultancy programs, and delivering on UXB-7 through UXB-10. We’ll continue measuring our initiatives using clear KPIs and success metrics. We’re also maintaining buffer capacity to support emergent ecosystem needs like HUB and AHM.
Budget Breakdown
| Category | Cost |
|---|---|
| Projects | $168,000.00 |
| Curator Support | $18,000.00 |
| Bounty Operations | $42,000.00 |
| Total Requested | $228,000.00 |
Why Fund UX?
Because UX is key to adoption. It ensures Polkadot products are usable, accessible, and competitive with the broader industry and Web2 experiences.
Great UX reduces friction and user errors, improves developer efficiency, and brings consistency across rollups. It also builds trust and helps accelerate growth. With this bounty, we’re actively addressing these challenges and building the design standards Polkadot needs to thrive.

Hello, I'd like to know what criteria you use to select the projects you review?
Also, I'd like to know if all reviews are paid for by funds from the Polkadot treasury, or if projects that generate revenue pay extra for the reviews you perform?
Thank you very much
Hey @SIM-DOT, thanks for your questions!
What criteria you use to select the projects you review?
UX Audit applications are public and open for anyone. After the project applies it needs to meet the following criteria:
✅ Clearly define the grant’s purpose (e.g., specify which user flows need auditing).
✅ Be a Parachain, Common Good Project, or Open Source initiatives, based on Polkadot with end-user interfaces.
✅ Have an MVP or live product with clear value for Polkadot users.
✅ Commit to implementing relevant UX recommendations.
✅ Disclose any past treasury funding and proposals.
✅ Must demonstrate strong alignment (e.g., "Powered by Polkadot" branding).
The criteria are publicly available on our notion.
Also, I'd like to know if all reviews are paid for by funds from the Polkadot treasury, or if projects that generate revenue pay extra for the reviews you perform?
So far, all UX audits have been financed by the Polkadot treasury. The purpose of these audits is to optimize the user experience across the entire Polkadot ecosystem. Because our primary focus is on the end users interacting with Polkadot, we do not distinguish between projects that generate revenue and those that do not.
PolkaWorld votes AYE
We believe user experience is one of the key drivers for user growth and developer adoption in the Polkadot ecosystem.
This UX Bounty proposal demonstrates several clear strengths:
• Proven delivery capability: 5 UX audits were completed in Q2 with a 95% satisfaction rate, showcasing strong execution.
• Transparent and mature governance: Operated as a quarterly bounty, the model offers accountability and flexibility without long-term staffing commitments.
• Clear goals and roadmap: Q3 will include 8 new audits, along with the launch of UX consulting and data analysis initiatives — all with measurable KPIs.
• Reasonable budget structure: 73% of the total budget goes directly to project delivery; operational costs are controlled with no excess spending.
• Strong ecosystem alignment: Priority will be given to core ecosystem projects like Polkadot Hub and AssetHub, creating a positive feedback loop.
