PolkaPulse: DeFi Dashboard for Polkadot Parachains
Dear Polkadot community,
We’re pleased to present this proposal following our initial discussions with Parity Data.
Update: 13 Feb 2025
Hey everyone, following our previous discussions, we have now officially submitted our treasury proposal on Subsquare: [link].
We appreciate all the feedback so far and would love to hear any additional thoughts. Feel free to review and share your input. Looking forward to the community's support!
Project Summary:
PYOR is building PolkaPulse—a unified parachain-level data platform for 10 key parachains. It will feature two types of metrics:
- General Metrics for comparing parachains at a glance.
- Key Metrics for deeper insights into individual parachains.
PolkaPulse aims to help existing users track DeFi growth and opportunities while also making it easier for new users to onboard into the Polkadot ecosystem. By providing clear, actionable data, we believe this dashboard will make the ecosystem more accessible, transparent, and engaging for everyone.
Timeline: 5 Months
Requested Funding: USDC 78,000
Motivation:
Parachains are the backbone of the Polkadot ecosystem, with their growth being a key success metric. Each parachain serves a unique purpose—whether in DeFi, DePIN, RWA, or BTCfi—requiring distinct performance metrics.
Current analytics tools provide fragmented insights, failing to capture the unique DNA of individual parachains. For example, Acala’s success lies in trading volumes and staking, Interlay’s in active loans, and Peaq Network’s in user adoption. A one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work.
To address this, PYOR proposes an analytics dashboard—an all-in-one platform combining ecosystem-wide indicators with parachain-specific metrics, giving stakeholders a complete, actionable view of Polkadot’s performance.
Details of Proposed Dashboard:
Our proposed Dashboard majorly will consist of 2 products hosted live on a single user-facing interface. These 2 products / Dashboard are
- Parachain activity dashboard
- Parachain Defi Yield opportunity dashboard
Key details about both can be found below
Parachain activity dashboard
Key Metrics by Parachain:
-
Acala: Swap volume, DOT staking, aSEED token circulation, active addresses, fees, transactions, XCM messages.
-
Astar: Transaction count, unique addresses, dApp staking TVL, ASTAR staking ratio, fees.
-
Bifrost: Active addresses, liquid staking TVL, stable swap TVL & volume, fees.
-
Centrifuge: Tokenized assets, outstanding loans.
-
Hydration Chain (DEX): Liquidity pool TVL, swap volume, trading volume, active LPs, fees, unique users.
-
Interlay: Active addresses, vault collateral, outstanding loans.
-
Moonbeam: Active addresses, locked assets, transaction count, fees, collateral.
-
Pendulum: Transfers, active addresses, total holders, fees.
-
Peaq Network: Machine count, user count, transactions.
-
Asset HUB: Active accounts, events, transfers, signed extrinsics, XCM messages.
General Metrics for all parachain:
- Active accounts (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
- Events (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
- Transfers (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
- Signed Extrinsincs (Daily, Monthly, Cumulative)
- Downwards & Upwards xcmmsg
Defi yield Opportunity Dashboard
Initially we will be covering five key networks: Polkadot, Moonbeam, Astar, Bifrost, and Acala. The dashboard will track opportunities across Lending, DEX Liquidity Pools, and Liquid Staking.
Our proposed protocol list is here:
- Moonwell
- Stellswap
- Starley finance
- Bifrost liquid staking
- Beefy Finance
- Acala swap
- Frax Finance
- Prime protocol
During the first 2 weeks sprint we will work with para chain teams to find and list out more opportunities and will adjust the list according to that.
Conclusion:
Our proposal plans to address a critical gap in the Polkadot ecosystem with two essential dashboards: the Parachain Activity Dashboard and the DeFi Yield Opportunity Dashboard. These dashboards will provide stakeholders with the insights they need by offering clear, real-time data specific to each parachain and key DeFi opportunities.
By covering all the major parachains and DeFi protocols, we aim to create a unified tool that goes beyond the current fragmented analytics. During the initial two-week sprint, we’ll work closely with parachain teams to refine and expand the metrics, ensuring they capture the full picture of ecosystem activity.
We believe these dashboards will make it easier for everyone to make informed decisions, drive growth across parachains, and ultimately contribute to Polkadot’s long-term success. We’re excited for the collaboration and feedback to make this vision a reality.
We’d appreciate your feedback on this proposal & project!
If you have any suggestions, questions, or thoughts, feel free to share them. Your input will help us fine-tune and improve the project. Looking forward to hearing from you!

We had already a dashboard that tracked the DeFi activity for Polkadot but it was discontinued due to low traffic.
It makes a better deal to just integrate with the already established DeFi trackers that hold most of the traffic.
Unless this dashboard includes the rest of applications ourside of DeFi in a significant manner, we don't think a redo of the past Polkadot DeFi trackers is the best way to go.
@saxemberg
If you have a link to the DeFi dashboard, could you share it?
We can see what DeFi trackers it looks at, reference it with our metrics, and come up with a revised set of trackers if required.
The proposal has two sets of dashboards – one that tracks metrics at a parachain level, and one that tracks DeFi activity on an asset (on parachains) level. Based on our conversations with the Parity team, and the OpenGov team, we believe this dashboard offers new and extensive coverage of Polkadot data.
Update from AAG #206 Call on PolkaPulse Proposal
Hey everyone, sharing a quick update from today’s AAG call where we addressed two key questions and made clarifications to our proposal:
1️⃣ Web Traffic Data for Past Projects – We were asked about traffic data for our previous dashboards. For macro projects like the Arbitrum RWA Dashboard, we don’t own the URLs, as the data is delivered directly to the respective teams. Additionally, our dashboards are more specialized, focusing on niche analytics, so they naturally attract targeted users rather than mass traffic, unlike large aggregators like CoinMarketCap or DeFiLlama.
2️⃣ Inclusion of Hydration – During the AAG call, we mistakenly mentioned that our DeFi chain selection was based on advice from Parity—we want to clarify that this was not the case. After further review, we’ve decided to include Hydration in our proposal, alongside Acala, Moonbeam, and additional chains.
📌 Yield Opportunity Dashboard Update:
Users will be able to select a token (e.g., USDC/USDT) and compare yield opportunities across different parachains, including categories such as lending, borrowing, liquid staking, and liquidity provision (LP yield), with data available across various timeframes (1D, 1W, 1M, 1Y, 3Y, etc.).
We will update the proposal accordingly. Thanks to the community for the valuable feedback! 🚀
